Contemporary "Music" -- or just Noise?

Here's the first of my Facebook rantings that gave rise to this blog:

Gaaah, why must composers of contemporary music obsess so much about the absence of musical form? Driving home tonight, listening to the Dayton classical channel. Some contemporary piece for solo acoustic guitar that was just an assortment of random notes jumping all over the place like the Flight of the Drunk Bumblebee. Flipped to the Cincinnati classical channel. Sweet Relief!!! A symphonic composition, probably early Romantic. O sweet musical form! The other stuff was just painful to listen to. If you think about it, every type of music follows some sort of form--not just classical, but rock, country, rap, you name it. Which is why people can follow it! In music as in all things, the human mind needs form and stability, something for our pitiful consciousness to grasp onto and comprehend and feel the master of. Exactly why we need ceremony, ritual, formality, and routine. Anyway, had to get that tirade out to someone, which is why I jumped on my computer soon as I got home, even though I need to get to bed. Goodnight world.
